Audits and Internal Feedback

At Converse, we leverage both automated accessibility testing and manual audits which include people with disabilities. We conduct annual manual re-audits on consumer-facing technologies aligned to WCAG 2.1 AA using screen readers, screen magnifiers, keyboards, and more assistive technologies. We file the results of those audits in Jira, our issue-tracking software, and triage issues with engineering and product teams. We have also integrated Google Lighthouse in our development pipeline on Converse.com to ensure we have consistent monitoring and display those results on an internal dashboard.

Additionally, we regularly conduct usability studies with people with disabilities and employ people with disabilities on staff to ensure we’re taking qualitative feedback from people with disabilities .

Technical Remediation

By leveraging audits and user feedback, we ensure that we work on relevant issues aligned to WCAG 2.1 AA. Any relevant issues go through a process of prioritization, categorization, and technical triage. We give highest priority to issues that may have the highest reach and impact on people with disabilities. In general, we focus on resolving issues associated with but not limited to:

•    Keyboard, tab navigation, and focus management
•    VoiceOver, TalkBack, JAWS, NVDA, and Dragon Naturally Speaking
•    Screen magnification
•    Use of color and color contrast
•    Error messaging and input forms

Process Integration

Beyond remediation, at Converse we work to ensure that accessibility is integrated to process within digital. We integrate with product, design, and engineering teams to ensure they incorporate accessibility and WCAG standards into new feature work to ensure we release compliant code. We also work with procurement teams to include accessibility criteria in supplier selection. Preparation of this statement
