Star Player 76 Easy-On Luxe

Comfortable for a growing kiddo

These were purchased for my son who is 5 years old and autistic. He is very sensitive to different fabrics, weights, closures, and the general feeling of clothes/shoes so I wasn't sure how he'd do with these sneakers since they're about a 1/2-inch taller and quite a bit heavier than his previous Converse sneakers. It's been a week and he's worn them with no issue, thankfully! He's nonverbal so he hasn't told me how they feel but they must be comfortable because if they weren't, he'd refuse to wear them/would kick them off immediately. Very grateful to have found these sneakers!

Not the usual padded collar!

The collar is only padded on the sides and not around the top. I own more than 10 pairs of Little Kids 3Y low and mid height Chucks with padded collars and tongues. I really wanted to keep these but the collar is stiff and sharp. Even with socks it rubbed horribly against the bottoms of my ankles. I hope that this padding change is only for this Star Player 76 style and does not become the norm. I am worried that there aren't currently styles shown online with the type of padded collar that I normally buy. The style name has differed over the years. All-Star Madison, Axel and Street Ox are a few of names I can think of, but I am sure I am not the only one who has noticed the difference. My size 3Y is perfect but the design is way off. According to Converse, my nearly 60 yr. old feet are equivalent to most 4-8 year olds. I've been wearing Chucks for at least 50 years, I prefer not to have to switch back to the Classic All-Stars without padding!
